New Year’s Eve has always been a time to reflect the past year. Whether it’s viewing back on your accomplishments or criticizing your faults. The top New Year’s resolution always seems to touch on the same factors of life: mind, body, health, organization and financial status. One of the top resolutions for 2011 is weight loss.

Losing weight & exercising more is the most common resolution for most people every New Year. Statistics show more than 34% of Americans are obese as well as 32.7% who are overweight. The extremely obese take up about 6% of the share in this epidemic. A person who is 5 feet 5 inches tall becomes considered overweight when they are 150lbs. and considered obese at 180lbs. You can utilize the BMI calculator link below to check where you stand.

http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/

There is really not a nicer way to say this, but most of us are just lazy! If we refuse to eat well or exercise on a regular basis then we are sadly going to fall into one of the overweight categories. So, how can we stay on track with our fitness goals? By making a commitment and a lifestyle change!

People have become more health conscious over the past couple of years but how many really commit to this lifestyle change? Exercising is a start but it takes a healthy diet to really produce an obvious body transformation. 2011 will be like any other year where there will be an influx of people at the local gym for the first 1-3 months of the year. After the first quarter you will start to see this numbers fade. Failure rate for weight loss is sadly much higher than the success rate!

Staying On Track
Study trends have shown that setting a vague weight loss or fitness goal is the main reason for failure. If you can really commit to losing weight and following a strict workout plan then you will not follow that failure trend. Only you can make that choice! Choose a solid 12 to 16 week workout plan and this will be a great start for your 2011. It will keep you on track and focused for all of your fitness goals.

Some Simple Health Tips
1. Stop eating fast food
2. Eat more fruits and vegetables
3. Stop drinking liquid calories (soft drinks, energy drinks).
4. Watch your daily meal portions & calories
5. Eat at home more often
6. Exercise
7. Walk up stairs versus taking the elevator
8. Walk or ride a bike to work twice per week
9. Walk 45 minutes per day
10. Exercise for 1 hour 5 times a week

A lot of people have been asking the question, “How do I inflate a fitness ball?” Well it’s not as difficult as it may seem. There are a few tricks to finding the correct ammount of air to put into your fitness ball.

After you purchasing our 55cm, 65cm or 75cm fitness ball remove it from its packaging. Inspect it for damage. Place it upon the floor and pushing the creases out. If the ball feels cold or hot when touched, allow it to come to room temperature before inflating.

Before you start to inflate the ball, take a tailor’s tape measure and measure the maximum diameter of the ball (height off the floor). You should see the diameter on the product packaging. Mark the diameter on a door or wall (you could use tape or erasable marker).

When the ball is ready, remove the white plug and insert the adapter with the pump. When the ball approaches the mark you made on the wall or door, quickly insert the white plug. Using a measuring device compare the height of the ball with the mark on the wall or door. Stop inflating when the ball reaches the mark, or the ball feels comfortable for sitting.

Please perform this test for comfort:

1. Sit on the ball. (Do your hips and knees form a 90 degree angle to each other?) If yes then the ball has plenty of air. You do not have to using the wall mark measuring if you pass this test. YOU DO NOT WANT TO OVERINFLATE!!! You should be able to push the ball about 2” when it’s fully inflated.

You might want to check on the inflation of the ball after 24 hours. The ball may stretch after use. If the ball did stretch, just re-inflate again to your comfort level or the diameter mark.

HERE ARE A FEW DO NOT’S!!

1. NEVER USE YOUR FITNESS BALL OUTSIDE! – This increases the chance of the ball getting punctured.

2. NEVER LET YOUR FITNESS BALL COME IN CONTACT WITH BLACK INK. – Ink can permanently mark the ball.

3. NEVER USE HARSH CHEMICALS ON THE FITNESS BALL.- Chemicals will scratch the ball.

Rebounding is a new form of exercise that can be compared to bouncing on a bed as a child. It serves as a great cardio workout. It can take some time to get adjusted to rebounding on a mini trampoline. Remember to wear shoe’s that won’t allow for slipping such as a good pair of jogging shoes.
There are a few different exercises you can do with your rebounder mini trampoline.

Bounce – Stand in the center of your trampoline with your feet slightly apart. Without lifting your feet, begin to start to slowly bounce. If your trampoline has a hand rail, you can hold it for support while you learn to bounce. If not go very slow and be extra cautious with your first time bouncing.

Walk – This is mostly used for warming up or cooling down. Instead of bouncing off the trampoline, slowly lift your heals but do not lift your toes off the trampoline. You can move your arms as if you were walking.

Jog – This is the best workout for increasing your heart rate. Using your basic stance for bouncing, begin by lifting each foot an inch or two off the rebounder. You can move your arms as if you were jogging.

There are more advanced rebounder workout routines which can be found on the internet. The above are the starter exercises for your mini trampoline. Trampoline rebounding can be fun and healthy and is a great way to get yourself back into working out daily.

I bet you’re laughing to death right now, thinking to yourself why in the heck would I need one of those air beds? Okay so I tended to agree with you at first thought because I too didn’t realize the need for an air bed. I tell you though I was wrong; everyone needs an air bed! I never realized how many different situations have come up that owning an air bed would have solved.

Family members coming to the house and you don’t have the sleep arrangements figured out? Maybe you’re on a camping trip and sleeping in a tent, where the idea of comfort is rolling over the hard floor and hitting a tree root? Yes I have had that experience and I tell you I would have killed for a Pure Comfort Air Bed. There is nothing better than waking up to a sore back and thinking to yourself; why did I not get myself an airbed for this trip?

What about when you’re in-laws are over and someone has to give up a bed and take the sinking couch? Yes I bet you know exactly what I mean. You’re giving up your comfortable queen size bed so Uncle Don can have a great night’s sleep. You’re stuck in the sliding and sinking coach and yes you have to work in the morning. If you owned a Pure Comfort Air Bed, this would not be the case. You’d get a great night sleep and wouldn’t need ten cups of coffee to get going in the morning.

Air beds are wonderful to have stored in your closet because you just never know when you might need one. So why not just buy the most talked about air bed on the market? The one that comes with a coiled top that contours to your comfort? How about an air bed that doesn’t break a hole into your bank account? The Pure Comfort Air Bed!

We have them in every size and their quite simply the most comfortable bed for the best price. You can purchase them right here on our website and right now there is FREE SHIPPING! This is a limited time offer so get them while their hot!

USE THE CODE “PCFREE” and you will recieve free shipping!

So… i’m back into the swing of things at college and now that its been a month up here I kind of am starting to miss some things at home. Obviously I miss my family and pets but today for the first time i felt the need of wanting to go in my backyard and jump on my trampoline. Unfortunately my sorority does not have a huge trampoline in the backyard. I really felt like i wanted to go on my trampoline not only because it is fun to jump on it but also because it is a great workout. You don’t really notice how much your core is engaged while jumping. If you think about the last time you jumped for at least 10 minutes on a trampoline, you might come across the memory of being a little short of breath once you finish. Trampolines are an exercise where most people just do it for fun yet it really can get you in good shape. I went to the gym early this morning but when i was bored later this afternoon i thought: if i just had my trampoline i could be having so much fun while getting exercise! I love when those two things are the same since we all know how hard working out really is. But if your thinking about a way to start getting your kids into shape or wanting them to be physically active just because it’s healthy for them, you might want to consider buying a trampoline. Your kids will never think twice about it being for exercise, all they will think about is the feeling of soaring in the air (of course with a net on the outside of it too) ; ). But really I got my first trampoline when i was about 5 maybe and it was the most amazing gift, I absolutely LOVED it… and have to say got a lot of exercise on that thing.

Trampolines bring a lot of enjoyment and health benefits to families. People continue to buy trampolines for both fitness and fun but one of the biggest concerns for trampoline owners is “Safety.”

If you are looking to purchase a trampoline or you already own a trampoline, safety is a concern. Here at Pure Fun we want you to enjoy your trampoline and keep safe. We suggest making sure your trampoline pad is correctly assembled on to your trampoline. The pad will keep the user from accidently hurting themselves on the springs.

Make sure your trampoline is on a level surface, anything unbalanced could cause the trampoline to move while in use. Uneven surfaces are very bad for your trampoline. Make sure to never use your trampoline in bad weather conditions. If you trampoline is not covered and protected from weather, make sure to wipe it down and dry it off before use. You do not want to slip and hurt yourself.

Trampolines are made for bouncing but you really have to be careful while using the trampoline. Never use your trampoline for somersaults or flips. Doing these acrobatic maneuvers can cause serious injury and will increase the chance of injury on a trampoline.

Please make sure to review the safety guild lines for your Pure Fun Trampoline before and during use. Safety should be your number one concern for your trampoline. Reading, understanding and knowing your safety guide lines is the first step for safe jumping.
